A wee trio of flowers decorate frames within a state being red background. While at first it looks a little Scandinavian, I can also see this print being dressed with a western vibe. Or pair it simply and smartly with trousers, shorts or skirt. Fab under a jacket too!
We've named the Martha blouse after Shona's great grandmother, a real adventurer, who followed her children out to New Zealand after her husband retired. Now that is some trip to make later in life. We think the Martha set is all about adventuring, even if it is a bit more urban than a pilgrimage on a sailing ship - just look at the pockets on the jerkin!
This style of blouse, with the strong pointed collar and darted shoulders shows up in sewing patterns from 1941 - 1946. The collar itself lived on a little longer, still appearing at the start of the New Look era.
